Liverpool are now set to enter the race to complete the signing of highly-rated Leicester City starlet Jeremy Monga, according to a new report.
Reds supporters are expecting another big spell in the transfer market this summer, following a season of immense disappointment on the pitch and in the dugout.
While signing top-quality proven players is of the utmost importance, it is also vital that youngsters are looked at, too, in terms of long-term planning.
According to Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke, Monga is now very much on Liverpool’s radar, with themselves and Newcastle United joining the race to snap him up.
It is stated that Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester City and Manchester United are all “keen” on the 16-year-old winger as well, with the “intention for him to join up with their academy sides to continue his development.”
Leicester “have accepted that it will be very difficult for them to keep him” if they are relegated from the Championship, with his future likely to belong at a Premier League club.

Jeremy Monga a special long-term option for Liverpool
Monga is such a huge talent, incredibly making his Premier League debut at the age of just 15 years and 271 days last April, and being lauded by Marti Cifuentes, who said of him:
“He is a talented boy and we are trying to take care of him because he is very humble and that is very important for me because the way he works on the pitch is excellent. He wants to learn, he is eager to improve and he has a lot of talent so I’m happy that he scored his first goal and I’m sure he’s going to stay humble as well and I’m not happy only about the goal but the whole performance.”
The competition for Monga’s signature is understandably strong, and it’s now a case of Liverpool selling the idea of joining the club to him better than their rivals do.
He has the potential to be a special footballer over time, already winning 10 caps for England’s Under-19s despite his age, and the Reds signing him could feel increasingly significant.
