Liverpool striker Jayden Danns has provided a positive update regarding his fitness after being sidelined with a long-term back injury since the summer.
The Reds have a history of producing incredible talent from their academy, with the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Curtis Jones coming through the system in recent times.
Danns is one of the most exciting current young talents on show at Anfield, having burst onto the scene last season, filling in admirably when Jurgen Klopp was tackling an injury crisis.
The 18-year-old looked the part every time he took to the field, leading the line impressively and scoring twice in the 4-0 win at home to Southampton in the FA Cup fifth round, including a dinked finish in front of the Kop.
In total, Danns made five appearances and it looked as though an exciting period awaited him, whether that be breaking into the first team regularly or being loaned out elsewhere to gain more experience.
Instead, a back problem suffered during pre-season not only robbed him of a chance to impress Arne Slot but also potentially join Plymouth Argyle on a season-long loan.
Now, thankfully, it looks as though Danns has made significant progress in his recovery, with This Is Anfield sharing his Instagram post that states he is “back running” on the outside pitches at the AXA.
Our thoughts on Danns’ injury update…
This is fantastic news for Danns, who will have been so disheartened by his back injury, coming at a terrible time after being in such confident spirits after his efforts last season.
An ideal scenario now could see the young striker work his way back to full fitness and possibly seal a loan move to another club during the January transfer window.
That would allow Danns to pick up some much-needed football at senior level, before running to Liverpool next summer looking to prove his worth to Slot.
It is impossible to predict the career trajectory of any young player at Liverpool, given the competition for places, but the Englishman certainly looks like an attacking gem with a high ceiling, and it’s going to be fascinating to see how he fares upon his return.
