Liverpool are believed to be one of the clubs that have been offered the opportunity to sign a world-renowned Real Madrid player this summer.
Attacking reinforcements are likely at Anfield between now and the end of the summer transfer window, with doubts persisting over the futures of Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez.
There is also the tragic passing of Diogo Jota to contend with, as Liverpool look to tackle one of the most heartbreaking moments in the club’s history.
According to The Boot Room‘s Graeme Bailey, the Reds are among the top clubs to have been “contacted” by Real Madrid about attacking star Rodrygo, with the La Liga giants “informing them of his likely availability.”
Manchester City, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are all mentioned in the report, while others are also thought to be in the mix, with the Brazilian potentially deemed surplus to requirements and wanting a new challenge.
Rodrygo another game-changing option for Liverpool
The signing of Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen feels so significant for Liverpool, given his status as a world-class player, and Rodrygo could be a similarly exciting acquisition.
The 24-year-old is arguably underrated, due to Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior stealing the limelight more often at Madrid, but he is a stunning footballer in his own right, being lauded as the “most gifted” player at the club by Jude Bellingham:
“Rodrygo, so underrated. For me he’s probably the most talented and most gifted player in the squad. The things he can do with the football — we’ll be messing around and he’ll flick the ball up somehow and you’re like, ‘How do you do that?’. I’m trying to do it, twisting up my ankles and everything like that. He’s a pleasure to play with.”
It would be a surprise if Liverpool signed Rodrygo, though, with a new centre forward such as Alexander Isak arguably a more important player to target.
That said, if the Brazil international does leave Madrid and the funds are available for the Reds to snap him up, he could come in as a direct replacement for Diaz ahead of next season.
