Liverpool are thought to have made contact with the representatives of one of Europe’s leading attacking players, according to a new claim.

This summer is going to be one to remember at Anfield, with Arne Slot set to be handed a healthy amount of funds to bring in new signings.

Liverpool’s attack has to be an area of focus ahead of next season, with Mohamed Salah carrying others at times, including Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez.

According to The Boot Room, the Reds have contacted Real Madrid superstar Rodrygo’s agents over a summer move to Anfield in recent weeks, with the £204,000-a-week Brazilian having plenty of suitors.

Arsenal and Manchester City are also mentioned as being in the same situation as the Reds, but it remains to be seen if he wants to seal a move away from the current Champions League holders.

Rodrygo a sensational option for Liverpool

Rodrygo is among Europe’s best attacking players currently, starring in an attack alongside Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappe, registering 11 goal involvements (six goals and five assists) in La Liga this season.

While that may not be an earth-shattering tally, he is a selfless figure who can make others around him make the headlines, but he has still been lauded by Carlo Ancelotti, who has said of him:

“He is a special striker, he can play in all positions. He is fast, smart and effective one on one. The learning is over. He is a Real Madrid player for all purposes.”

The idea of Rodrygo playing for Liverpool is such an exciting prospect, but in truth, it still feels as though he is most likely to remain at Madrid, unless he is pushed out of the exit door.

While there may be a part of him that is tempted to be a star player elsewhere, he is surrounded by world-class players and could even be looking forward to linking up with Trent Alexander-Arnold at the Santiago Bernabeu next season.

Rodrygo should be a standout option for Liverpool if he does become a genuine option, though, and he could come in as the future leader of the attack once Salah eventually moves on.
