Liverpool are believed to have sent scouts to watch Borussia Dortmund youngster Jamie Bynoe-Gittens in action, as they eye up a potential future move for him.

The Reds will be looking to bolster their squad in the summer transfer window, in order to ensure a freshness is added to Arne Slots group of players.

As things stand, Liverpool have a plethora of attacking options in their ranks, but recent reports have linked all of Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota with a move away from Anfield this summer.

Should that happen, reinforcements will be needed, and speaking to Football Insider, former scout Mick Brown claimed that Liverpool have had scouts in attendance watching the highly-rated Bynoe-Gittens.

“I remember watching him for England’s under-21s. They won by seven against Luxembourg last year and he got on the scoresheet. I didn’t know him at the time, he was playing in that inside-left channel.

“Somebody said he was playing in Germany, but based on conversations with people who know about him more than I do, I didn’t get the feeling that he’s a real standout. People were placing the ‘might be’ label on him, he’s got talent but has he got the consistency?

“He seems to be answering some of those questions this season, he’s come into Dortmund’s team and he’s attracting a lot of interest in his performances. But where he’s of top Premier League quality, I’m not so sure.

“That will be on Liverpool’s scouts to work out, because they’ve been watching him at a few games so far this season over in Germany. They’ll be working out whether he can be consistent and perform to his best level every week.

“They’ve done remarkably well in the past with this sort of deal because there were question marks about Cody Gakpo too, and he’s proving people wrong this season.”

One for the future at Anfield

At just 20, Bynoe-Gittens would be a long-term signing for Liverpool, rather than a definite starter from the off, but he is already a key figure at Dortmund.

The Englishman has scored 16 goals in 89 appearances for the Bundesliga giants, and also registered 14 assists, while football talent scout Jacek Kulig has described him as a “wonderkid”.

A left winger by trade, Byone-Gitten can also do a job on the right flank, so he would be a versatile option who should only become even more prolific as he matures.
