Bayern Munich seem to have taken a crucial step towards signing German super talent Florian Wirtz which is a massive blow to Liverpool’s reported hopes of landing 22-year-old.
With 16 goals and 13 assists, as per Transfermarkt, Wirtz is undoubtedly one of the best players in Europe right now.
His six goals and one assist in the Champions League is evidence of his ability to perform at the highest level as well but Bayern seems to be where he will be playing his football next season.
Liverpool, according to a report from Caught Offside last month, are one of the clubs interested in signing the Leverkusen talisman. Real Madrid, Arsenal and Manchester City are all credited with serious interest.
Now, though, a report from Germany claims that Bayern have taken a commanding lead in one of the most exciting transfer stories of the summer transfer window to come.
Bayern Munich appear to have a “fundamental agreement” with Wirtz and his family for transfer that could cost €150m
According to German news outlet Sport Bild, the transfer of Florian Wirtz to Bayern Munich is “becoming more and more likely” as the midfielder “has now informed Bayer coach Xabi Alonso that he doesn’t want to move to Real or City. He only wants to move to Munich!”
The report doesn’t mention Liverpool at all but goes on to say that “the Wirtz family (father and advisor Hans has a very close relationship with Uli Hoeneß) must have reached a fundamental agreement with FC Bayern during the numerous contacts in recent months.”
It continued: “The timing of the transfer remains unclear; Wirtz still has a contract with Leverkusen until 2027.
“Bayer CEO Fernando Carro had already spoken of a transfer fee of “at least 150 million euros” for Wirtz in an interview with “Radio Marca” (Madrid) in April, but later admitted this as a mistake.”
Is Xavi Simons the alternative Liverpool have in mind after claim Liverpool are readying £51.1m bid?
A report from independent Liverpool outlet Empire of the Kop, Liverpool are readying an initial bid of €60m (£51.1m) to sign Bayer Leverkusen star Xavi Simons although it is noted that the German side would want in the region €70m-€80m (£59.6m-£68.1m).
Based on the trend in the rumour mill of late, Arne Slot seems to want an elite creative midfielder but may sell Harvey Elliott this summer with Wolves seriously interested in signing him.
