Multiple reports carry news of imminent bids for PSG duo Ibrahim Mbaye and Bradley Barcola, which could cost as much as £164m combined.
beIN Sports reporter Romain Collet-Gaudin reports that the arrival of Ajax star Mika Godts in Paris will “accelerate” Barcola’s move to Liverpool, with PSG agreeing a €55m (£47.4m) fee for his transfer.
Collet-Gaudin adds that “the Reds will make an offer to PSG next week.”
The London Evening Standard reports that this bid will be worth £125m, equalling the Premier League transfer fee paid to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United last summer.

L’Equipe journalist Loic Tanzi reports that Liverpool will “send a first offer to Paris for Ibrahim Mbaye in the coming days,” with it abdundantly clear that the momentum in this transfer debacle is now swinging.
For weeks, we have seen so many repetitive reports regarding the gap between valuations for Barcola and Mbaye, but with the conclusion of PSG’s attacking signings, there appears to have been a breakthrough behind the scenes to give Liverpool confidence to finally spring into action.

Liverpool could solve their attacking headache in one go if the reports are true
If the reports are true, and PSG accept the bids, Liverpool could finally put their attacking depth issues to bed.
Signing both Mbaye and Barcola would mean this would be their attacking roster for the 2026/27 season:
- Alexander Isak
- Hugo Ekitike (Boxing Day return from Achilles injury)
- Bradley Barcola
- Rio Ngumoha
- Victor Munoz
- Ibrahim Mbaye
- Federico Chiesa
- Cody Gakpo (likely to be sold, but until then…)
I’m of the opinion that Liverpool shouldn’t sell Gakpo even if both Barcola and Mbaye join, but I understand that there are multiple reasons why he needs to be sold. He seems to be keen to leave, Liverpool needs to free up non-homegrown slots in the squad after the Ronald Araujo loan deal, and Liverpool need to generate cash to balance the summer spend.

Barcola is obviously the most important signing for Liverpool to complete before the transfer deadline on 1 September at 11 pm, but Mbaye is also a really exciting signing. He fits into the same bracket as Ngumoha and Munoz in that he will get a lot of game time, but is not yet an elite operator.

Speaking on Sunday, the Italian journalist said: “I think so. There is no doubt on Barcola prepared to go to Liverpool. PSG have now 6 or 7 top players already in the squad [up front], so Barcola leaving, creating some profit, making some good money, and giving Liverpool the player they wanted since last summer [could happen].
“I think this deal has high chances to happen, and I’ve always been confident, and I remain confident.”
