Tyler Morton is a wonderful talent but Arne Slot has been unable to give him many minutes this season which could lead to him requesting a transfer in the summer window.
The 2024/25 season has seen Liverpool operating at the very highest level as they target the Premier League title and Carabao Cup final with attention now turning to the Round of 16 first leg against PSG.
As a result of Liverpool’s lofty ambitions, game time for fringe players has been extremely limited.
The likes of Harvey Elliott, Wataru Endo and Federico Chiesa have played very little football as Slot’s preferred starters continue to dominate.
Tyler Morton “expected to push” for Liverpool summer exit
Given that Morton was fit for most of the season, it came as a surprise when he did not go out on loan in the January transfer window although there was late interest from Middlesbrough.
The Reds could not get a deal agreed and so the 22-year-old remained at the club with game time even more unlikely to come as each game is now potentially decisive in Liverpool’s hunt for silverware this season.
Now, ruled out until the end of the season with a shoulder injury, the Liverpool Echo reports that Morton may have played his final game for the Reds.
They report that Morton is “expected to push for a move” in the summer which is a pity. That said, his pathway to regular first team football is blocked by some truly top midfielders.
As it is, Harvey Elliott is struggling to find game time with Slot preferring Curtis Jones, Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch.
The summer transfer window is expected to be a busy one for the Premier League leaders and unfortunately, it seems Morton will be among those that leave the club.
