Liverpool are believed to be interested in signing Newcastle United right-back Tino Livramento this summer, according to a new transfer claim.

With Trent Alexander-Arnold looking highly likely to join Real Madrid at the end of the season, it is vital that the Reds nail his successor at Anfield.

Granted, Conor Bradley has proven to be an excellent squad option, but he isn’t yet at the level to be Liverpool’s first-choice right-back, not to mention being an injury-prone player at times.

Bayer Leverkusen ace Jeremie Frimpong has been mentioned as a leading choice to replace Alexander-Arnold in the summer window, but now another name has been thrown into the mix.

According to a new update from Give Me Sport, Livramento is “appreciated” by Liverpool alongside Frimpong, although it may be difficult to get a deal over the line.

It is claimed that “there is an awareness that Newcastle are highly unlikely to sanction his departure when head coach Eddie Howe considers him untouchable in the aftermath of ending their lengthy trophy drought.”

Is Livramento an upgrade on Bradley for Liverpool?

Livramento is an impressive young player, with Newcastle legend Alan Shearer showing his appreciation for him in the past, saying: “Trippier and Livramento were sensational against Wan-Bissaka and Dalot. He has been magnificent for Newcastle.”

The 22-year-old has emerged as Kieran Trippier’s natural successor at right-back for the Magpies, starting 22 Premier League games this season and winning the EFL Cup earlier this month, following his side’s win over Liverpool in the final.

That said, there are doubts over whether he would be a genuine upgrade on Bradley, in terms of both experience and quality, with the Englishman not registering a single goal or assist in the league in 2024/25 to date.

Liverpool need to be looking at a more elite option to come in and fill the likely void left by Alexander-Arnold, with Frimpong already proving himself at a high level for a sustained period, helping Leverkusen win the Bundesliga title last season.

The Dutchman has 13 goals and 12 assists in the league since the beginning of last season, admittedly as a wing-back, so he should be considered a strong choice to come in.
