Liverpool have reportedly made contact with an “exceptional” right-back who would come in to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold this summer.
Unfortunately, Alexander-Arnold has decided that he would rather join Real Madrid than remain at his boyhood club, which understandably hasn’t gone down too well among the fanbase.
The 26-year-old will leave Liverpool at the end of the season, and while Conor Bradley is a brilliant young option to have, another right-back is needed for Arne Slot, in order to give him enough depth.
Plenty of names have been mentioned, from Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong to Nottingham Forest’s Ola Aina, and now another name has been thrown into the hat.
According to Goal Brazil [via This Is Anfield], Liverpool have made contact with Monaco ace Vanderson “in recent days”, seeing him as a good option to bring in this summer.
The Reds are in “search of more information” on the 23-year-old, who has five caps to his name for Brazil, highlighting his pedigree as a player.
Vanderson an exciting right-back target for Liverpool
Vanderson may not be as well-known as Frimpong and Aina among the majority of Liverpool supporters, but that’s not to say that he wouldn’t be a strong signing for them once the summer window opens.
The Brazilian has been a regular for Monaco this season, starting 23 games in Ligue 1, and former manager Philippe Clement once lauded him, saying:
“He had an exceptional adaptation here [last season]. We have already spoken about that. He is also a player who is and continues to interest lots of big clubs. That can possibly do something to the mindset, not that he didn’t have his feet on the ground, but Vanderson is very ambitious and a huge perfectionist.”
Vanderson could come in and provide good competition for Bradley, with the pair vying for a regular starting berth, and given his age, it would be a sensible piece of business.
The Monaco ace could become a key man for the best part of a decade at Liverpool, with fans hoping that he could be the man to make them forget about Alexander-Arnold once next season is up and running.
