Liverpool are being linked with many players currently, and one new update claims that they want two new signings sorted before the end of June.

The season may be over, but focus is now firmly on bringing in the right players to turn the Reds’ fortunes around, following a wretched defence of their Premier League title.

Wingers and midfielders are at the top of Liverpool’s summer wishlist, with younger legs needed on both flanks and in the middle of the park, in order to inject much-needed energy into the team.

Writing on X, a respected source claimed that the Merseysiders want to ensure that Yan Diomande and Adam Wharton are signed by the end of June, in the middle of the 2026 World Cup:

“Liverpool want to sign Yan Diomande and Adam Wharton in June. The plan is set. The end of the season was intense. Arne Slot felt he wasn’t given enough width and pace on the wings.

“The Liverpool board has told the manager that all contract talks are on hold until Christmas. Arne Slot has to get off to a bright start as the club is not scared to make changes early.”

Would this be the ideal start to Liverpool’s summer?

This is an encouraging update, with Diomande and Wharton exactly what Liverpool should be looking for in their respective position ahead of next season.

Diomande is an explosive young right winger with an incredible amount of potential, proving to be two-footed and surely only getting better from this point onwards.

Meanwhile, Wharton is a class act who has matured into such a key player for Crystal Palace, with his silky left foot dictating midfield battles, and his tackling ability giving an extra edge to his game, too.

If Liverpool could wrap up these two signings next month, it would be a strong start to the summer, but the hard work certainly can’t stop there from the likes of Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes.

At least one more winger is required, as well as potentially another right-back, centre-back and striker, in order to ensure Liverpool go up a huge gear in 2026/27.
