Liverpool have set their sights on two promising attacking talents as part of their summer transfer plans, with Southampton midfielder Tyler Dibling and Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike both on the club’s radar.

According to the Daily Mail, the Reds have been actively scouting the duo, assessing their potential fit within Arne Slot’s evolving squad.

Scouting Dibling: Liverpool eye young playmaker amid heavy competition

Liverpool representatives were in attendance on Saturday to watch Dibling in action for England’s Under-19 side against Turkey.

The Southampton starlet, widely regarded as one of the most exciting young English midfielders, has drawn interest from multiple elite clubs across Europe.

Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Bayern Munich, and RB Leipzig are also closely monitoring the 19-year-old’s development.

However, prising him away from Southampton won’t be easy. The Saints reportedly value their prized asset at over £100 million, a figure that should deter potential suitors.

With Liverpool needing reinforcements in several areas, it remains to be seen whether they would be willing to commit such a massive sum for a teenage prospect.

Ekitike on Liverpool’s radar as potential Nunez replacement

Meanwhile, the Reds are also keeping a close watch on Hugo Ekitike, who has been in stellar form for Frankfurt this season.

The 22-year-old striker has netted 19 goals in 38 appearances, further enhancing his reputation as one of Europe’s most promising young forwards.

Ekitike’s stock rose even higher during international duty with France’s Under-19s, where he bagged a hat-trick in a 5-3 victory over England.

Standing at 6ft 3in, the former Paris Saint-Germain forward possesses a strong physical presence, coupled with excellent technical ability – qualities that make him an intriguing option for Liverpool’s frontline.

With Darwin Nunez struggling for consistency and likely to leave, Liverpool could explore a move for Ekitike as a long-term attacking solution.

Several European giants are also tracking the Frenchman, but the prospect of leading the line at Anfield could prove tempting if Nunez is moved on.

Liverpool’s transfer focus: A summer of key additions

Arne Slot is eager to strengthen his squad this summer after Liverpool saw their treble hopes dashed in quick succession – exiting the Champions League at the hands of PSG and falling to Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final.

The need for attacking reinforcements is clear, and while Dibling’s price tag could be a stumbling block, Ekitike appears to be a more attainable target.

Whether Liverpool can secure both remains uncertain, but the club’s summer business will be crucial in shaping their competitiveness for the 2025/26 season.
