Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister will miss his side’s Premier League clash with Fulham next weekend through suspension, it has been confirmed.
The Argentine picked up his fifth yellow card of the season in the league Wednesday evening, coming in the first half of the 3-3 draw away to Newcastle United.
It meant that Mac Allister was ruled out of Liverpool’s trip to Everton on Saturday, only for the game to be called off because of adverse weather conditions.
For that reason, it has now been confirmed that the 25-year-old will instead miss the Reds’ visit of Fulham in the league next Saturday, serving a one-match ban in the process.
“There is an understanding from both Mac Allister and Salah. Mac Allister was no doubt the most outstanding player on the pitch, he was incredible.
“Everything that was good about Liverpool went through Mac Allister. His passing was superb, his confidence was unbelievable, [he had] the flicks and tricks. He was driving his team forward on so many occasions. He was absolutely magnificent.”
While Mac Allister will be a miss for Liverpool, Slot should expect his team to still have too much for Fulham without him, with a midfield three of Ryan Gravenberch, Curtis Jones and Dominik Szoboszlai extremely strong.
These are the games that the Reds simply must win if they want to go all the way in the Premier League title race this season, with dropped points at Anfield a big setback.
Mac Allister will now have a spell to recharge his batteries ahead of the festive period, which will hopefully prove to be a blessing in disguise.
