Liverpool have been linked with a summer move for Bayern Munich superstar Michael Olise, and their interest doesn’t appear to be going away.

The Reds’ attack is badly in need of fresh quality at the end of this season, with Mohamed Salah now 33 years of age and looking a jaded figure.

Granted, Florian Wirtz, Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike all joined last summer, but wide positions now have to be looked at, with Cody Gakpo not good enough to be starting every week.

Olise has been a long-time rumoured target for the reigning Premier League champions, and now a report from Spain has provided a fresh update on the situation.

They claim that Liverpool are willing to make a big step forward in their efforts to sign the Frenchman, with a mammoth £172.8m transfer mooted – a “figure that would shake the European panorama.”

It is described as a “historic operation, both for the economic amount and for the sporting impact it would have”, and Olise “would welcome the change of scenery and the possibility of assuming a leading role in the Premier League.”

Michael Olise Liverpool’s dream summer attacking signing

Olise is such a special footballer, not only being a wonderful talent to watch, but also delivering relentless end product, making him a perfect attacking option for Liverpool this summer.

The 24-year-old has an incredible tally of 11 goals and 17 assists in the Bundesliga this season, and three and five in the Champions League, respectively, while Bayern teammate Dayot Upamecano has said this about him:

“He’s a magician. His technical level is very high. He can do everything. He can score, set up, and even defend. With every touch of the ball, he makes an attacking impact. He’s a player who will do a lot of good for our team.”

Clearly, the amount of money being reported is bordering on ludicrous, and it is hard to see Liverpool being willing and able to spend that on him.

But if Olise is available for less, he should be one of the Reds’ main summer transfer targets, if not their No.1 choice, with the France international already arguably world-class, and with the potential to get even better.
