Liverpool defeated Tottenham on Sunday to lift their 20th league title as supporters watched on as some truly wonderful scenes unfolded at Anfield.
The Reds won the game 5-1 despite conceding the first goal of the game but it came as no surprise as there wasn’t a single person in the stadium who thought the game would go any other way.
While Spurs were essentially just part of the show (they even looked guilty for scoring the opener), they certainly won’t be so docile should Liverpool make a move for Bayern Munich hitman Harry Kane.
The Englishman left Spurs in 2023 for an initial £86.4m plus add-ons and has since scored 80 goals and provided 24 assists for the Bavarian club. Kane is on track to win the first trophy of his career as Bayern are eight points clear of Bayer Leverkusen and will likely soon confirm their title win.
If Kane is satisfied with his spell in Germany and wants to return to England for another elite club, Liverpool would be the obvious choice this summer.
Liverpool urged to bring Harry Kane back to England this summer
TalkSPORT pundits Ally McCoist and Troy Deeney were discussing Harry Kane’s future and the former believes that Liverpool would be the perfect place for the English striker to pick up where he left off in the Premier League in 2023.
“Maybe [Liverpool need] an out and out goal scoring centre-forward,” McCoist suggested.
“I don’t see it happening but say if Harry Kane wins the Bundesliga, which he will do, and then fancies to come back to England. I just think Liverpool would be a dream move for him.”
“Obviously they’re linked with Isak as well,” Troy Deeney chipped in. “Just give them the title for the next five years if they get that fella.”
Liverpool cannot afford Isak but are also not signing Kane
Even if Kane did want to return to the Premier League, he is currently earning a reported £398,599 per week wage which Liverpool will never agree to pay even for Kane.
The striker is 31 but Liverpool haggled for over a year with Mohamed Salah and so it would be baffling to see FSG hand over a huge contract without much fuss.
Similarly, Newcastle United reportedly want £150m for Isak and even if he would more than likely guarantee Liverpool win the title next season, it’s not happening unless Newcastle lower their asking price.
