Liverpool forward Luis Diaz is on the verge of joining Bayern Munich for £65m with a medical scheduled before official announcements will be made.

Since he joined the Reds in 2022, Diaz scored 41 goals and provided 23 assists and brought an undeniably South American graft to Anfield and became an instant hit with fans.

Many supporters will list just one disappointment and that will be the knee injury Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey inflicted on him that caused him to hit a ceiling following his return to fitness in March 2023.

He was never really the same after the injury but Diaz never stopped trying.

His wish for a transfer this summer has reflected his singular focus and is now being rewarded with a big money move to the Allianz Arena, following in the footsteps of the last top left wing to play for Liverpool: Sadio Mane.

It’s a move that benefits Diaz, Liverpool and Bayern and is a rare situation in football transfers where every party is happy.

Luis Diaz will complete Bayern Munich medical on Tuesday

According to Florian Plettenberg, Liverpool are close to selling Diaz to Bayern with the latest being that the player will undergo a medical with the German giants on Tuesday.

Personal terms and transfer fee negotiations are already over and once a medical is passed, Diaz will sign his new contract with Bayern before completing the transfer.

Plettenberg reports on X, “Luis Díaz will arrive in Munich on Tuesday, with his medical also scheduled to take place the same day.

“He will then sign a contract until 2029, with an option for a further year. FC Bayern are paying €70m as a fixed fee, plus up to €5m in potential bonuses.

“Agents Christian Wein and Raul Pais Da Costa from the agency AS1 played a crucial role in making the deal happen.”

Liverpool now prepared to “go big” for Isak as Arne Slot’s new side takes an even more exciting shape

According to an update from Fabrizio Romano this morning, Liverpool are “prepared to go big” to sign Alexander Isak after the sale of Luis Diaz is complete.

Selling Diaz for £65m (€75m) halves the investment needed to sign Isak so it’s a powerful time to sell the Colombian.

Last season, Luis Diaz had 20 Premier League goal contributions with 13 goals and seven assists. Alex Isak had 26 goal contributions with 23 goals and six assists.

In signing Isak, a player three years younger than Diaz and replacing and upgrading on his goal contrubtions at the same time.
