Liverpool almost signed Marc Guehi in the summer transfer window but a late change of mind from Crystal Palace saw a Deadline Day move to Anfield collapse.
Now, the Englishman has signed for Man chester City and there are some fairly obvious reasons as to why.
At the Etihad Stadium, Guehi will reportedly earn a massive weekly wage worth in the region of £300,000 per week.
While Liverpool would likely never have entertained paying that kind of wage, it now also seems as though Guehi decided against signing for Liverpool.
Marc Guehi will earn a basic #ManCity wage significantly lower than £300,000 a week. The £20M transfer cost is also a flat fee, with no additional clauses.

Liverpool’s form and tactical confusion under Arne Slot this season may have also had a big impact on his decision to move to Man City, where he will be coached by Pep Guardiola – a tactical icon of the game.
Marc Guehi names two players that convinced him to join Manchester City
Speaking since his move to City, Guehi explained how his decision to join the Cityzens came about.
“We’ve been talking for quite a while and obviously talked with different clubs,” Guéhi told reporters after his Manchester City debut in Saturday’s 2–0 victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
“I felt from conversations, through talking with some of the players here, that this was the place for me to improve, to get better and just to help as much as possible. Phil and John, conversations with the manager, conversations with [director of football] Hugo [Viana], so it’s been great.”
Which centre back should Liverpool target now?

Liverpool’s centre-back situation is a headache. If rumours are correct and Arne Slot will leave the club at the end of the season, he’s leaving behind a bit of a problem for the next coach.
Virgil van Dijk is world class, but ageing. Ibrahima Konate is dominant but inconsistent and on the varge of leaving Liverpool on a free transfer.
Joe Gomez is likely leaving the club, but even if he stays, his traffic injury woes mean he isn’t a reliable centre-back anyway.
Regardless of the truth behind rumours surruonding Xabi Alonso and the Liverpool manager job, FSG need to address the problems at centre-back in the summer transfer window.
Spurs’ Micky van de Ven and Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni are two of the most exciting options but a concrete target has yet to emerge.
