Liverpool have a relentless period of fixtures on the horizon and seven kickoff times in the Premier League have been altered in December and January.

Arne Slot’s men return to action with a crucial clash with Chelsea at Anfield on Sunday afternoon, as they look to stay top of the table.

It has been an impressive start to life under their new head coach for Liverpool, but bigger tests lie ahead after a relatively easy start to the campaign.

On Tuesday, it was confirmed that the kickoff times of seven league matches have now been altered in December and January, due to television schedules.

The trip to Newcastle will now take place on Wednesday, December 4th (7.30pm GMT, Amazon Prime Video), before the Merseyside derby meeting with Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday, December 7th (12.30pm, TNT Sports), meaning a fast turnaround.

Liverpool’s final game before Christmas is at Tottenham on Sunday, December 22nd (4.30pm, Sky Sports), while on Boxing Day (8pm, Amazon Prime Video), the Reds host Leicester City to complete the day’s action.

Slot’s men close out 2024 with a trip to West Ham on Sunday, December 29th (5.15pm, Sky Sports) and then open their 2025 account with the visit of bitter rivals Manchester United on Sunday, January 5th (4.30pm, Sky Sports). Finally, the Reds head to Nottingham Forest on Tuesday, January 14th (8pm, TNT Sports).

Our thoughts on these Liverpool fixtures changes…

While clearly a busy schedule, this doesn’t look too brutal for Liverpool, in terms of a lack of rest between matches, barring the aforementioned Wednesday night-Saturday lunchtime clashes with Newcastle and Everton.

There are solid enough breaks on either side of Boxing Day, rather than 48 hours between games, as has ludicrously been the case at times in the past, so Slot can’t complain too much about the schedule.

It feels like a period that could be defining come the end of the season, however, with some taxing away assignments and also a meeting with United, which often isn’t easy no matter how badly the Red Devils are doing.

With international breaks getting in the way of the domestic season currently, though – there is another one to come in November – supporters will be loving wall-to-wall league fixtures come December and January.
