Mohamed Salah is reportedly close to announcing what his next move will be after leaving Liverpool this summer.

The Egyptian is under contract with Liverpool until 30 June 2027, but will be allowed to leave the club for free this summer as part of an agreement with owners FSG.

While it will be emotional when he leaves after nine years of record-breaking and silverware, the club appears to be keen to remove his reported £485,000 per week contract.

In total, Salah’s exit will free around £25m from their huge wage bill – only Manchester City and Arsenal spend more on wages in the Premier League.

Reports indicate Salah will soon announce which club he will join after Liverpool

When it was announced that Salah will leave Liverpool at the end of the season in March, his agent was very quick to make sure that media outlets didn’t take advantage of the announcement to churn out transfer speculation pieces.

Ramy Abbas Issa represents Salah in his business affairs, and he said on X: “We do not know where Mohamed will play next season. This also means that no one else knows. Beware of the click-whoring attention seekers.”

Now, in late April, reports from Egypt are suggesting Salah and his agent have made ground in their search for a suitable club to join this summer.

According to claims from Muhammed Murad, the Egyptian FA’s media coordinator, shared by Egyptian outlet Youm7, Salah will soon announce his next move.

Murad says: “Mohamed Salah will announce his new destination within a few days, and we will support him in any decision he makes.”

Salah will be fit enough to play in his Anfield farewell game v Brentford

When Salah fell to the ground with an apparent hamstring injury against Crystal Palace, fears were sparked that he’d played his last game for Liverpool.

These fears have been allayed, with Egypt team doctor Ibrahim Hassan providing an update on Salah’s injury.

Hassan told Reuters [via This Is Anfield]: “The diagnosis has been confirmed for Mohamed Salah’s hamstring tear, and he will be sidelined from the pitches for four weeks.

“There is ongoing monitoring of Mohamed Salah’s condition, and his injury will not affect his participation in the 2026 World Cup.”

The injury prognosis is encouraging as it provides a slim chance that Salah could still get his Anfield farewell. He certainly deserves it after 257 goals and 122 assists for Liverpool since 2017.

Virgil van Dijk says Salah will get his send-off ‘regardless’ of what happens between now and the 24th of May when Liverpool face Brentford in the final Premier League game of the season.

The skipper said: “I know he is doing everything in his power to be back on the pitch as soon as possible. “He will get the send-off regardless.

“I don’t think that is the thing at this point, we shouldn’t think too far ahead. Knowing Mo he is a quick healer with the right people around us and let’s see.”
