Mohamed Salah has responded to speculation about his future after being asked whether he would consider joining an Australian club, offering a typically calm and measured reaction amid ongoing uncertainty over the next stage of his career.

The Liverpool forward, who remains one of the most high-profile players in world football, was quizzed on the idea of playing outside Europe as talk continues to grow about possible moves later in his career.

When asked directly about the possibility of a move to Australia, Salah did not give any indication of concrete interest, instead steering the conversation away from speculation and focusing on his current situation.

He was asked by Mark Schwarzer in an interview for Stan Sport Football: “Could Mo Salah play in Australia some day?”

Salah responded: “Legends game?”

Schwarzer replied: “Maybe even for an A-League club, who knows?”

Salah then said: “You never know, but if it was a legends game. I don’t see myself anywhere near it.”

His response effectively cooled any immediate suggestion that a switch to the Australian A-League is on his radar, despite growing interest from leagues outside Europe in attracting global superstars.

Future uncertainty continues to follow Salah

Salah’s long-term future has become a regular topic of discussion, particularly with his Liverpool contract situation and ongoing speculation linking him with moves abroad.

Recent months have seen increasing attention on whether the 33-year-old will eventually consider a new challenge outside Europe, with Saudi Arabia, MLS and other emerging markets frequently mentioned in connection with elite-level players in the later stages of their careers.

However, Salah has consistently avoided publicly committing to any specific destination.

At Liverpool, Salah remains a central figure despite wider uncertainty around the club’s transition under Arne Slot and the gradual evolution of the squad.

He continues to contribute at a high level on the pitch, but discussions around succession planning and long-term squad changes have naturally brought added attention to his future.
