Mohamed Salah is reportedly willing to make a massive U-turn on his Liverpool exit if two conditions are met following his explosive social media post over the state of the club.
Liverpool are in crisis, and have been for several months, with the 4-2 defeat to Aston Villa last week exacerbating the pressures facing the club, its leadership and the squad.
Salah has been an iconic leader on the pitch for Liverpool, leading by example with his performances, but also speaking out to the press and the fanbase when the situation has called for it.
When Jurgen Klopp left the club, Salah promised the fans that he and the squad would respond the following season.
Salah’s damning interview in December split the fanbase, but six months on, everything he said would happen has come to pass.
After the defeat to Villa, Salah took to social media to say: “I have witnessed this club go from doubters to believers, and from believers to champions. It took hard work and I always did everything I could to help the club get there. Nothing makes me prouder than that.
“Us crumbling to yet another defeat this season was very painful and not what our fans deserve. I want to see Liverpool go back to being the heavy metal attacking team that opponents fear and back to being a team that wins trophies. That is the football I know how to play and that is the identity that needs to be recovered and kept for good. It cannot be negotiable and everyone that joins this club should adapt to it.
“Winning some games here and there is not what Liverpool should be about.
“All teams win games. Liverpool will always be a club that means a great deal to me and to my family. I want to see it succeed for long after I have moved on.
“As I’ve always said, qualifying to next season’s Champions League is the bare minimum and I will do everything I can to make that happen.”

Salah is willing to stay at Liverpool if two conditions are met this summer
Now, according to a report from The Athletic, Salah has shown an unexpected willingness to U-turn on his imminent Anfield exit to stay at Liverpool if two conditions are met.
Penned by Simon Hughes, the report reads: “Not so long ago, some of Salah’s associates in Egypt were quietly suggesting he had not totally given up on the idea of remaining at Liverpool, despite recent announcements.
“Yet for that to happen, a regime change would be needed — starting with Slot, but also in conjunction with departures of the directors who have confidence in him but are similarly only a year away from their contracts being finished.”
Research done by This is Anfield‘s Sam Millne shows that Liverpool’s performance has been steadily declining since Arne Slot took over, even during the club’s 2025 Premier League title run-in.
In his first 29 games for Liverpool, Slot averaged 2.4 points per game.
In the following 46 Premier League games, the team dipped to 1.59 points per game. A worrying decline.
In Liverpool’s last 32 Premier League games, Liverpool have averaged just 1.38 points per game.
