Rayan Cherki will have his pick of several top European clubs this summer after his glittering displays for Lyon in Ligue 1 and the Europa League.

Arne Slot is set for his first major summer transfer window as Liverpool boss after making just one signing before the start of this season.

Federico Chiesa joined the Reds from Juventus and despite Slot not trusting him enough to play more than 33 minutes of Premier League football, the title was delivered without much fuss.

However, the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City are sure to recruit and improve over the summer and so Liverpool will need to ensure they are ready for their crown as Champions to be seriously challenged.

While Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to join Real Madrid on a free transfer, FSG were able to negotiate new contracts for Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk and so Slot has a very stable base to build on.

Losing Alexander-Arnold means that Liverpool will need to replace his creativity and one way to do that is to sign an elite attacking playmaker and Rayan Cherki more than fits the bill.

Rayan Cherki wants Anfield move but Liverpool are reportedly hesitating

According to GiveMeSport, Liverpool have been in contact with the agents of Rayan Cherki and the 21-year-old has reportedly “already decided that he would be eager to head to Anfield.”

Liverpool are not the only club that have spoken to Cherki’s representatives with Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester United and Manchester City also contacted by the player’s camp to sound out a potential move to the Premier League.

While “Cherki wants to join Liverpool this summer“, Liverpool’s hierarchy are hesitating.

They report: “There is some scepticism over whether Slot is prepared to grant the winger’s wish as the Dutch tactician is pushing to make stringent personality checks and seeking very specific traits when considering his options in the transfer market.

“GMS sources have been informed that Liverpool and Arsenal would be the most enticing Premier League destinations for Cherki, who has been productive in the final third of the pitch this term, and his representatives have been contacting a host of sides in a bid to gauge their level of interest before the end of the season.”

Described by Julien Laurens as a “very specia talent”, Cherki has 12 goals and 19 assists this season with most of his games coming as a no.10 or on the right wing.

If he were to join, he could help replace some of the lost attacking output on the right flank when Trent leaves.
