Real Madrid are interested in signing an “unbelievable” Liverpool player alongside Ibrahima Konate, according to a new transfer rumour.
The future of Konate has been a big talking point of late, with Madrid continually linked with a move for him ahead of his contract expiring next summer.
It looks as though the Spanish giants aren’t only keen on signing the Frenchman from Liverpool, however, with Caught Offside‘s Mark Brus reporting that Alexis Mac Allister is also on their radar, among other Premier League midfielders:
“Real Madrid hold an interest in Alexis Mac Allister. Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea, Adam Wharton from Crystal Palace, and AZ Alkmaar’s rising talent Kees Smit are all also firmly on Madrid’s radar.”
Mac Allister a must-not-sell player for Liverpool
Mac Allister’s form so far this season hasn’t been the best by his world-class standards, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t still a priceless asset for Liverpool.
In peak form, he is the Reds’ best and most recent midfielder, with Newcastle United legend and BBC pundit Alan Shearer waxing lyrical over him at one point last year:
“Everything that was good about Liverpool went through Mac Allister. His passing was superb, his confidence was unbelievable, [he had] the flicks and tricks. He was driving his team forward on so many occasions. He was absolutely magnificent. What a signing he has been, he is having a great season.”
Mac Allister is still only 26, so he is at a great moment in his career, and Liverpool should be viewing him as a key starter for at least the next four years or so.
Madrid are capable of turning the head of any players, especially South American footballers, so there will be concern from Anfield about this rumoured interest.
Hopefully, Mac Allister sees his future at Liverpool, liking what Arne Slot is building at the club and wanting to win more trophies, potentially even being seen as a contender to captain them one day.
The Argentina World Cup winner isn’t out of contract until the summer of 2028, so the Reds can demand huge money for him, but selling him should be right at the back of their minds.
