Liverpool are one of the clubs interested in signing Rodrygo this summer as a replacement for Luis Diaz.
The Colombian has two years left on his contract which doesn’t appear to bother Liverpool but Diaz is agitating for a new deal which doesn’t seem to be forthcoming.
Bayern Munich and Barcelona are both interested but neither is willing to meet the £72.5m asking price Liverpool have set.
If Diaz does leave this summer, it will complicate Liverpool’s transfer plans further but it would open the door to more exciting signings.
One name that has been heavily linked with the Reds is 24-year-old Rodrygo but the Brazilian will not come cheap with Madrid reportedly demanding in the region of £86m to let him go.
Latest on Rodrygo transfer news

Liverpool are no doubt big fans of Rodrygo after he scored 14 goals and assisted 11 from a variety of positions last season. He played 43 games total and played 31 on the right wing, 12 on the left and 10 as a striker.
That kind of versatility will appeal to Arne Slot, who loves fluid and interchanging forwards.
According to Fabrizio Romano, everything depends on what Rodrygo wants and the offers he receives. Real Madrid are not pressuring him to make a specific choice and will wait to see what he decides.
In the interim, the young attacker will discuss everthing with his representatives and family while in dialogue with Madrid.
Romano says: “Real Madrid will leave the decision to Rodrygo, it’s Rodrygo who has to decide what he wants to do.
“Real Madrid are open, this is the big difference to one year ago, one year ago Real Madrid closed the doors to any club interested in Rodrygo.
“Now Real Madrid are open so it’s Rodrygo who has to decide, who has to talk to his family, his agent and to the club.”

It remains to be seen where Liverpool will pivot to next but Rodrygo would be an interesting signing. He is most comfortable on the right but there’s no displacing Premier League champion, top scorer and assister, Mohamed Salah.
That said, he can play anywhere across the front three while also possessing the tools to play in the No.10 if for whatever reason Wirtz is unavailable or in a different role.
It would certainly give Slot plenty of tactical solutions to in-game problems.
