The Naby Keita to Liverpool transfer saga was a thrilling one, even if the Guinean never fulfilled his high potential due to injuries, and the journalist who broke the news at the time has now dropped an obscure hint on Twitter.
Liverpool fans have been relatively starved of meaningful transfer stories this summer, but they are now extremely close to signing Bradley Barcola from PSG.
An update on Thursday morning from David Ornstein claims that Liverpool have reached an “agreement in principle” with PSG over a £100m basic fee for Barcola, with around £20m in bonuses after nearly two months of negotiations.
The Athletic journalist reports that there are still “details to finalise” but things are now moving fast after a “breakthrough overnight.”
Now, it seems as though there may be a transfer surprise coming from Liverpool based on a cryptic clue from Sega Diallo.

Posting on Twitter (I still don’t want to call it X), Diallo shared a very vague, very abstract clue.
He said: “YNWA. I’m going to get back to work to see what smells good…”

Now, I will admit that there is next to nothing here to get excited about, except for the fact that when it comes to Liverpool and transfers, Diallo has never blown smoke where there wasn’t a fire.
We all know Liverpool desperately needs a new midfielder, particularly after the 2-2 fiasco at St. James’ Park on the weekend, and there have been a number of links to AS Monaco’s Lamine Camara in the last few days.
For their part, Monaco are seeking a new midfielder in the event they lose Camara before the end of the transfer window, according to Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas.
Before this claim, Monaco-based journalist Abdel Hamed reported that Liverpool are “still on the hunt for a No.6” and “would like to make a move for Camara at the last moment.”
Hopefully this comes to pass, as Liverpool’s midfield is crying out for a player who is more worried about winning the ball back than playing with it and Camara is that player.
