Bournemouth and England midfielder Alex Scott is “one to watch” for Liverpool in the summer transfer window, according to reliable journalist Alex Crook.
Andoni Iraola’s arrival as the Reds’ new head coach has inevitably seen Scott mentioned as an option this summer, with the 22-year-old an impressive performer for the Cherries.
According to talkSPORT‘s Crook [via Empire of the Kop], the Englishman could be “one to watch” at Liverpool as the summer window goes on:
“Yeah, that noise seems to be growing, and you can understand why because I think it was problem last season for Liverpool, that midfield. Gravenberch and Mac Allister certainly weren’t on the same level, and Alex Scott is a player that Iraola knows well. I know Bournemouth are keen to tie him down to a new contract, but [it’s] certainly one to watch.”

Liverpool’s midfield was painful to watch at times in 2025/26, with Ryan Gravenberch below his best and guilty of not offering enough quality on the ball, and Alexis Mac Allister lacking legs throughout the campaign.
In Scott, the Reds would have a fantastic option, adding dynamism in the middle of the park, both in terms of technical ability and work ethic.
The Bournemouth ace may not have made England’s 2026 World Cup squad, but Three Lions manager Thomas Tuchel has made it clear that he thinks highly of him, hailing his performances for the Under-21s at last summer’s European Championship:
“He had an excellent Euros. He won the title, Lee was full of praise. He did an excellent job in midfield together with Elliot Anderson, who is now a regular starter for us – he was very impressive. Then he took another step and becomes a very a regular starter for AFC Bournemouth and they are in the top third of the league.”
The English premium that often comes with homegrown players means Scott will likely cost Liverpool a lot of money, but he would be a long-term signing with a high ceiling, and the Reds must look to sign either him or Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton.
