Reliable journalist David Lynch believes there is currently nothing to suggest that Arne Slot should stay on as Liverpool’s head coach.

A huge chunk of the Reds’ fanbase wants FSG to part ways with Slot after Sunday’s final Premier League game of the season at home to Brentford.

Speaking to Anfield Index, Lynch claimed that Liverpool should decide to make a change in the dugout, contrary to reports that have suggested he will stay on:

“This season has been miles from good enough. The manager is not doing a good enough job and they probably should dismiss him.”

Lynch also added: “There’s nothing there. Nothing good and you’re like the idea that they’re going to go into the next season having looked at this, having watched this and think it’s just going to suddenly be better because they’re going to sign a couple of wingers.”

Are Mo Salah’s comments the final nail in Arne Slot’s coffin?

Slot is arguably under more pressure than he has ever been at during his time at Liverpool, with patience now completely wearing thin with so many.

Mohamed Salah’s statement over the weekend almost feels like the final nail in the coffin for the Dutchman, especially as plenty of Reds players liked the social media post, suggesting they aren’t enamoured with the standards and playing style at the club.

At this point, it is hard to see Slot staying on at Liverpool this summer, even though, as mentioned, plenty of recent updates have said that FSG are not planning to sack him.

There appears to have been a slight change in stance from reliable journalists of late, though, including Lynch’s comments above and Fabrizio Romano saying “there will be a season review” at the end of the season.

Ultimately, Liverpool as a club matters far more than both Slot and Salah, and the bottom line is that neither of them should be at Anfield when the 2026/27 campaign gets underway.

If Slot stays on, it is hard to see next season going well, with a predictability about him being moved on at some point during the campaign, rather than miraculously turning things around.
