Liverpool could sell Luis Diaz this summer amid stalling contract talks and resurfacing Saudi Pro League interest, according to reports.

The Colombian, while not among Europe’s true elite attackers, is a wonderful player but his future at Liverpool is not assured and Arne Slot’s first transfer shakeup at Anfield could see Diaz become a casualty.

This season, Diaz has 15 goals and eight assists in 45 appearances in all competitions. Overall, that’s a very decent contribution but it’s unclear what Arne Slot wants at centre-forward moving forward.

Now, reports suggest that Liverpool negotiations with Diaz and his representatives are not progressing and the winger could leave in the summer if an appropriate offer is made.

Liverpool could accept £60m+ Luis Diaz offer amid contract stall

Liverpool could accept a “mega-money offer” for Luis Diaz this summer with Football Insider reporting that interest from the Saudi Pro League has resurfaced.

Al Nassr, the club that Cristian Ronaldo plays for, are keen while Barcelona consider Diaz to be a “concrete target”.

Diaz has been in talks with Liverpool over a new contract but with his deal set to expire in 2027, the Reds are reportedly willing to accept an offer of over £60million if the player is keen to leave.

His exit would free up major funds for reinvestment but it will simultaneously add more work for Liverpool’s recruitment team to do and while Diaz is not as prolific as Mo Salah, his place in the side is by no means unappreciated.

Should Liverpool keep Luis Diaz if they sell Darwin Nunez?

Diaz is capable of going up a gear to finally hit the 20-goal per season mark for Liverpool and can play as a false nine and on the left wing which is very valuable. He’s also a workhorse off the ball which is vital to Slot’s counter-pressing instructions.

But if he’s sold, Liverpool need to sign another top forward in addition to the one needed to replace Nunez, who has also been heavily linked with his own move to the Saudi Pro League.

Assume Liverpool signed someone like Alexander-Isak or Hugo Ekitike –  two reported centre-forward targets – all of a sudden holding onto Diaz suddenly becomes an inspired move.

Slot would then have Diaz, Cody Gakpo, Isak/Ekitike, Mohamed Salah, Federico Chiesa and Diogo Jota as their attacking options.

That is an elite roster of attackers and one that can be trusted to compete at the highest level.
