Liverpool are reportedly considering a summer move for Fulham left-back Antonee Robinson, with the highly-rated defender attracting interest from several top clubs.

Robinson has been one of the standout full-backs in the Premier League this season, delivering consistently strong performances for Marco Silva’s side.

While Fulham are keen to keep hold of him, the player himself appears open to a move, sparking fresh transfer speculation ahead of the summer window.

But if Liverpool are to win the race for his signature, it is clear they will have to fend off interest from domestic rivals. Manchester United are keen as well but given the Reds are on their way to lifting the Premier League title, and in doing so equalling United’s record of 20 league titles, Anfield is the more desirable destination.

Liverpool set to challenge for Robinson’s signature

According to Fichajes, Robinson is firmly on Liverpool’s radar as the club looks to reinforce its left-back options. The report states:

“A player who, incidentally, is also on the shopping list of a Liverpool team that is flying high towards the Premier title. Robinson’s valuation will not fall below €50m, so the Red Devils and the Merseyside team already know the price to pay for the defender.”

Liverpool’s interest comes at a time when the club is weighing up its options at left-back.

While Andy Robertson remains a key figure, his form this season has highlighted the need for additional depth. Kostas Tsimikas has been a reliable backup, but he hasn’t made a perfect impression on Arne Slot although he remains a very good left-back.

Robinson’s versatility and stats make him an attractive option

Robinson’s ability to play as both a traditional left-back and a wing-back makes him an appealing target for Liverpool. He has showcased his attacking quality with 10 assists in 28 Premier League appearances this season, demonstrating his ability to contribute in the final third.

In fact, only Mohamed Salah (17) has provided more Premier League assists this campaign. Bukayo Saka and Mikkel Damsgaard also have ten but for Robinson to have as many as midfielders and wingers is impressive.

Defensively, Robinson has also impressed, averaging 2.5 tackles and 3.1 clearances per game, while maintaining a flawless record of not making any errors leading to a shot or a goal, according to data from Sofascore.

Fbref shows that he is indeed one of the best left-backs in Europe. He ranks in the 97th percentile for assists by a defender and he also ranks in the 95th percentile for passes received in the final third, highlighting how his offensive game allows Fulham to get high up the pitch.

Liverpool have lacked an elite outlet on the left flank when Robertson and Tsimikas have failed to advance the game from their side of the pitch. Robinson more than solves that problem and his pace in defence means he is reliable in the recovery phase.

With his contract running until 2028, Fulham are unlikely to let him go easily. However, Liverpool’s financial strength and competitive ambitions make them a serious contender in the race for his signature.

Opportunity for a smart investment in Arne Slot’s first rebuild?

If Robinson’s price tag is in the region of £40 million to £50 million, as reports suggest, Liverpool may see this as a valuable investment for the future.

Strengthening the squad with a player of Robinson’s quality and work ethic could provide long-term benefits, particularly with the demands of competing across multiple competitions.

With a summer rebuild expected at Anfield, Robinson’s name is one to watch as Liverpool assess their defensive options ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Trent Alexander-Arnold could still leave if his contract isn’t extended by the end of the season and so Arne Slot will be very keen to sign a Premier League-proven player as he enters the prime years of his career at 27.

He will be 28 by the start of the 2025/26 season and getting him in early would set the tone for a smart and efficient first rebuild of Slot’s career at Anfield.
