Dominik Szoboszlai is coming into his own at Anfield and his form this season is a major factor in Liverpool’s title challenge but a report claims a massive offer from the Saudi Pro League is on its way.
The season started with Szoboszlai not quite clicking into gear. It was clear he was being asked to do even more running than under Jurgen Klopp but that wasn’t the problem. His efficiency and decision-making in the final third were a problem.
Now, however, Szoboszlai is one of the best players in the Premier League this season and so it’s no surprise that he is of interest to clubs overseas.
That said, it seems extremely unlikely to imagine him making the move to Saudi Arabia at 24 when he’s just coming into his own as a senior pro. For the last few years, Szobo has impressed in spells with moments of magic.
Al-Hilal are prepared to make an eye-watering €120m offer for Szoboszlai in the summer as they look to replace Neymar, according to Spanish news outlet Fichajes.
Whether or not the bid arrives, it seems unlikely Szoboszlai would decide to leave Liverpool with both club and player at the height of their powers. The midfielder has at least six or seven years left until he begins to regress and so it’s difficult to imagine a reason to leave.
He doesn’t appear to be a money-hungry player although he does earn around £120,000 per week with Liverpool. The money that Saudi Pro League clubs can offer players could cloud Szoboszlai’s mind but until concrete links appear, there is no need to worry about this one.
Liverpool at their best when Szoboszlai is on top form
Against Manchester City, the former RB Leipzig star wowed the crowd with his tireless efforts in the middle of the park. He scored, assisted and ran 11km to power the Reds through a key fixture in the title race.
According to data from Sofascore’s heat map, he was everywhere. Liverpool are on their way to winning the title this season and there is no denying that Szoboszlai is a worthy winner.
In fact, winning the Carabao Cup will mean that Szoboszlai has won a trophy in every year of his senior career.
