This week, a report from Spain suggested that Liverpool are set to receive a massive bid for Dominik Szoboszlai, who is unplayable in Arne Slot’s midfield right now.

At the end of January, the Liverpool manager called Szoboszlai “unbelievable” and claimed that he is “a bit underestimated”.

That is no longer the case with the Hungarian now being recognised as the classy player he is. Yet, it’s his incredible work rate that is driving the Reds through some challenging games.

Against Manchester City, Liverpool opted to soak up the Champions’ pressure and hit out on the counter-attack. This meant they had to get through a lot of running.

Nobody ran more than Szoboszlai, though. He ran over 11km as the Reds won 2-0 and at full-time, he was absolutely shattered as he lay on the Etihad pitch.

It wouldn’t be very surprising if Liverpool were to receive offers for the 24-year-old although they would almost certainly be rejected immediately such is the midfielder’s importance to his side.

Yet, Fichajes claimed this week that Liverpool should expected offers from Saudi Arabia in the summer, including a €120million (£100m) offer from Al-Hilal although that is now being refuted.

Report: No truth to claims of incoming bid for Szoboszlai

According to a report from Anfield Watch, Dominik Szoboszlai is happy at Liverpool and there is no truth to claims that Al-Hilal will spend massive money to attract the midfielder to the Saudi Pro League.

The report says: “The Hungarian has a long-term contract at Liverpool and he’s not looking to leave the club.”

It is true, however, that interest from Saudi clubs remains strong in other Liverpool stars with Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah particularly high on their list.

Salah is out of contract at the end of the season and as each week passes, the fear of his imminent departure grows.

Nunez, on the other hand, is likely to leave without much fuss in the summer as his Liverpool career simply hasn’t panned out.

Liverpool are heading into a critical summer transfer window which could either make or break their chances of success next season.

If they lose Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold for free, this season’s excitement may not continue into the 2025/26 season.
