Liverpool’s plan to sign Alexander Isak is an exciting but costly one but the Reds have a way they can generate the likely £150m fee Newcastle United will demand to sell him.
This season came as a total surprise to Liverpool fans. The post-Jurgen Klopp era was supposed to be like a shadow of the excitement that was had under the German. He took the Reds to heights that hadn’t been experienced at Anfield in decades.
Now, just several months after Arne Slot replaced him at Liverpool and the Reds are dominating Europe and England. They topped the Champions League group table and are currently 13 points clear – not to mention the Carabao Cup final next week.
Mohamed Salah’s form this season is dragging Liverpool to multiple trophies all while breaking records all over the place. He has 30 goals and 22 assists this season and is showing no sign of slowing down.
The only thing that could take Salah’s game to new heights is if Liverpool signed a world class no.9 to partner him with. Cody Gakpo is on fire on the left flank as well but someone like Alexander Isak would free Salah up to wreak even more havoc on the Premier League.
How Liverpool plan to fund £150m Alexander Isak move
A recent report from the Mirror claimed that Newcastle United will demand around £150m for Isak and if Liverpool are serious about the Swede, they have the players required to sell to generate that sum.
According to Anfield Watch, Liverpool hope to sell Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez for £49.5-57.7m and £85m respectively. This is possible, particularly, if Saudi Pro League teams come knocking in the summer window.
They are now well-known for paying over the odds as part of Saudi Arabia’s bid to have one of the top five leagues in the world.
Signing Isak is a tall order but if Liverpool start next season with a trio of Gakpo, Isak and Salah, they will once again compete for top honours.
Combined, the trio has 100 goals and assists already this season so it’s thrilling to imagine them all at Anfield.
Isak is a rare blend of height, power, pace and agility. The way Isak, at 6ft4, is able to dribble with the ball defies logic.
Newcastle are a good team but it’s scary to imagine what he could achieve in Liverpool’s squad.
