Fabrizio Romano has urged Liverpool fans to “keep an eye” on Luis Diaz’s situation as the summer transfer window approaches, with renewed interest from Saudi Arabia potentially putting the Colombian’s future in question.

Romano confirms that Diaz remains a player of significant interest to Saudi Pro League clubs, who first attempted to lure him away in January.

The 28-year-old, however, opted to stay at Anfield and remain focused on helping Liverpool challenge for major honours under new head coach Arne Slot.

Everything Fabrizio Romano said about the future of Luis Diaz

Romano told his YouTube channel“I told you that Darwin Nunez is expected to go in the summer from Liverpool. Luis Diaz is a possibility – not guaranteed, but still a possibility.

“From Saudi they were interested in Luis Diaz in January. The player decided to stay at Liverpool and focus on Liverpool’s season, but now the Saudi clubs are still there for Luis Diaz.

“The interest is still there, so keep an eye on Luis Diaz, because again we say it’s gonna be a busy summer for Liverpool with many things to decide. Luis Diaz will now have to make a decision on what he wants to do in the summer, because from Saudi, they will try again.

“They are interested and they want Luis Diaz, so let’s see what the player decides to do – stay at Liverpool, maybe go to another European club, maybe consider an opportunity in Saudi Arabia in this case.

“It’s also up to the player now, but it’s important to mention that from Saudi, they are still there. They are still pushing and still waiting to see what Luis Diaz wants to do in the summer transfer window, so I think this situation will be one to follow.”

While nothing is certain at this point, Romano stressed that Saudi interest remains active, and the onus may soon fall on the player himself to make a decision.

Is it too soon to say goodbye to Diaz or has the time come?

Fresh off the international break, Luis Diaz has been one of Liverpool’s brightest performers in recent matches.

He provided a sensational assist for Diogo Jota in the Merseyside derby win and followed that up with a goal from the bench in the 3-2 loss to Fulham.

These impactful displays are a reminder of Diaz’s unique blend of pace, flair, and directness, which makes him a nightmare for defenders and a key creative outlet for Liverpool.

With two years still remaining on his current deal, there is no immediate contractual pressure for either the club or the player to make a drastic decision.

At 28, Diaz is in his prime years. While Saudi clubs can offer lucrative wages, Liverpool offers something far more valuable at this stage of his career: elite competition, Champions League football, and a global platform.

The Colombian has become a fan favourite at Anfield, and he appears deeply embedded in the fabric of Slot’s evolving side.

There’s no indication that Diaz is pushing for a move, and from the club’s perspective, there is little reason to consider selling unless an astronomical offer is made – or unless the player himself expresses a clear desire to leave.

As Romano rightly said, it’s a situation to monitor – but Liverpool fans will hope that Diaz continues to write his story at Anfield, not elsewhere.
