Liverpool are expected to sell Greek star Kostas Tsimikas this summer after five years at the club as Arne Slot advances plans to invest at left back.

This season took many people outside the Liverpool bubble by surprise with virtually zero journalists or pundits predicting the Reds would be involved in the title race much least win the league.

And yet, Liverpool became Champions when they beat Tottenham 5-1 at Anfield to reach 82 points last week.

Yet, there are already plans in the works to increase the quality available to Slot next season as sporting director Richard Hughes gets ready for a busy summer transfer.

While Trent Alexander-Arnold’s impending move to Real Madrid is sure to dominate headlines when the season ends, there is also a great need to add more quality at left-back.

Andy Robertson is no longer in his prime and has been on the decline for two years. He is hoping to receive a new Liverpool contract but only time will tell how that situation develops.

Tsimikas has also failed to convince Slot that he is the best player Liverpool could have at left back and now it seems that means he will leave in the summer.

Liverpool are “expected” to sell Kostas Tsimikas with left-back set for a makeover

According to Lyall Thomas, news editor with Sky Sports News, Liverpool are on the lookout for a left-back that can initially “share the workload” with Robertson before eventually succeeding the Scotsman.

It would actually mirror how the former Hull City fullback’s career got started at Anfield. When he joined the club in 2017, Liverpool already had Alberto Moreno and James Milner operating at left-back and so Robertson had to bide his time.

When Moreno got injured, Robbo then got his chance and made the position his own. The rest is history.

Regarding Tsimikas’ future at the club, Thomas reports that the ‘Greek Scouser’ ‘is expected to be moved on’ to create room for whoever Liverpool sign in that department.

Who can Liverpool sign to replace Tsimikas?

One can dream of seeing Liverpool sign Nuno Mendes (he’ll be the best in the world before long – watch this space) but as FSG are looking for someone to grow into the role, more realistic targets are needed!

Milos Kerkez and Antonee Robinson have both been heavily linked with the Reds but it would not be surprising if Liverpool had a target in mind already that hasn’t been doing the rounds in the rumour mill.
