Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba has been urged to join Liverpool in the summer transfer window with the Cameroonian linked with a move to Anfield.
Recent reports have suggested that Brighton will try and sell Baleba for as much or even more than the £115million that they earned from selling Moises Caicedo to Chelsea.
If true, that puts a huge dent in Liverpool’s hopes of signing him unless they believe, like Caicedo, he is worth it. The Reds had a £111m bid accepted by Brighton for Caicedo before he rejected the move to go to Chelsea so it’s not impossible that FSG would sanction a move for Baleba.
The 21-year-old is shining in the Premier League and has arguably been one of the best midfielders in the league this season. It’s no surprise then that Liverpool are following him as they consider who to add to their squad in the summer transfer window.
Former Cameroon international Bernard Tchoutang has urged his compatriot Carlos Baleba to reject Chelsea in favour of a move to potential Premier League champions Liverpool.
“For me, Liverpool is the club that would suit him best,” Tchoutang told Africa Foot.
“And I’m not just saying that because they’re by far the best team in the Premier League this season and one of the strongest in Europe.
“Arne Slot’s system of play would suit him very well. The Reds like to attack, press and make quick transitions. We also know that this is a club that knows how to trust young players and give them responsibility.
“As for Chelsea, I’m not sure it would be a good choice. The team is having a decent season, but it’s a step below Liverpool or Arsenal. And I think that Baleba has what it takes to play for one of the best teams in England! He’s ready for it and he’s working hard for it.”
