Mohamed Salah was Liverpool’s hero yet again away to Burnley, burying a late penalty, and an incredible statistic sums up his genius as a footballer.
The Premier League champions were again far from their free-flowing best against the Clarets on the Sunday afternoon, but they got over the finish line in the dying seconds.
It was Salah who fired home deep into stoppage time, following a handball by Hannibal Mejbri, sending the travelling Liverpool supporters into ecstasy.
In truth, the 33-year-old had a poor game overall, as has been the case for him for much of this season to date, but when the Reds really needed him, he delivered.
After the game, Amazon Prime shared a remarkable statistic on X, showing that Salah’s spot-kick means he has 100 more goal contributions than any other Liverpool player since arriving back in 2017.

The Egyptian King has a tally of 273 in total, with Son Heung-min next up with 173, having departed Tottenham at the end of last season.
Harry Kane (169) and Kevin De Bruyne (15o) are in third and fourth place respectively, with former Liverpool man Raheem Sterling completing the top five (135).
Is Salah the Premier League’s greatest player?
As mentioned, Salah is in poor form by his standards, and a penalty at Burnley shouldn’t mask that, but he is allowed a drop-off after eight years of stunning world-class consistency.
The Liverpool legend’s end product has been sensational ever since he arrived from Roma, both in terms of goals and assists, and he now has a strong case for being the best-ever Premier League player.
Opinion will always be split on that matter, of course, with the likes of Alan Shearer and Thierry Henry among others to have strong claims for the No.1 spot, but either way, Salah is right in the mix.
For now, it’s a case of him getting back to his very best form and being more involved in matches, as well as making better decisions in the final third, but he has silenced his doubters so many times in the past and will likely do the same again.
Enjoy Salah while he’s around, because Liverpool are unlikely to have anyone better in his position for many years.
