Liverpool have held talks with Wolves star Pedro Neto’s representatives over a summer move to Anfield, according to an exciting transfer update.
The Reds are yet to make any new signings this summer, but the likes of Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes are no doubt working hard on getting deals done.
There doesn’t need to be major surgery made to Liverpool’s squad, with Jurgen Klopp leaving it in good health, but tweaks here and there are needed, in order to bring a freshness to proceedings.
According to a new claim from Give Me Sport, the Reds are pushing to sign Neto from Wolves in the current window, and have “been in touch” with his representatives.
Earlier in the update, it mentions that Liverpool have “set their sights” on raiding Wanderers, also potentially looking to strike a deal for Rayan Ait-Nouri, as they look to add competition for Andy Robertson at left-back.
Our thoughts on Liverpool’s talks with Neto…
This has to be considered exciting news from a Liverpool perspective, considering what a talented footballer Neto is – one with end product to back up his undoubted ability.
Last season, the Portuguese bagged nine assists in just 18 Premier League starts, and he is capable of excelling on both flanks, either hitting the byline on the left wing or cutting in from the right-hand side.
The one question mark against Neto is his injury record, however, with the 24-year-old known for picking up a string of issues down the years, which is something Liverpool need to be wary of.
If CEO of Football Edwards and sporting director Hughes feel that the Wolves ace will overcome his fitness woes as the years pass, though, he could be a fantastic signing, arguably proving to be an upgrade on Luis Diaz on the left, as well as a potential long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah on the right.
Similarly, Ait-Nouri would also be a strong addition, at a time when Robertson is 30 years of age and arguably not quite the force he used to be, in terms of energy and pace.
The Algerian is only 23, so he would be a long-term capture, and his ability to also play further up the pitch would make him a versatile option for Slot.
