Shaun Wright-Phillips

You have to feel sorry for Wright-Phillips who, above all, appears to be a victim of timing. After initially raising pulses with his performances at Manchester City Abramovich’s new Chelsea snapped him up in 2006 for a figure of around £20m. However he failed to cement a place at the west London club and was sold back to City in 2008. However over the next three years at City he made even less appearances than he had at Chelsea, partly due to the new era of money being enjoyed at Eastlands. Last summer he moved to QPR.
