Owen had scored 23 goals in 44 matches as a baby face 18 year old in the 97/98 season, and subsequently he made Glen Hoddle’s squad for the 1998 World Cup finals in France. He started against Argentina in the second round and delivered a sensational solo effort which announced his talent to the world, it changed his life forever and has defined him for the rest of his career.
