A surprise you might think but Hyypia was one of Liverpool‘s best players during their early success in the noughties. Signed for £2.6 million from Willem II Tilberg in 1999 he went on to captain the Reds and play his part in winning seven trophies during his 10-years at Anfield. Along with Jamie Carragher the Finnish defender held the back line together for years and ensured Liverpool were hard to beat. Their resilience in the 2005 Champions League final was an important factor in the clubs comeback from 3-0 down against Milan. He wasn’t bad at the other end either scoring 35 goals in his 460 games with his classy performances endearing him to the Kop and making him a true club legend.
