Top scorer in Italian football for Lazio made Crespo one of the main transfer targets for European clubs in 2002 and after a short spell at Inter Milan, he made a £16million move to Chelsea in 2003. A slow year goal-scoring wise for Crespo resulted in him being loaned to AC Milan by Jose Mourinho in 2004. However, he was recalled by the manager due to the lack of strikers available at the club, but once again could not find ant consistency and was eventually released back to Inter Milan.
