One of the golden generation of players coming through the Manchester United youth system, Sir Alex Ferguson clearly was not confident in Brown’s ability constantly signing centre backs that moved in front of the England international. Only twice in his 15 years at the club did Brown play more than 22 league games in a season and was sold to Sunderland this summer.
