Costing Man Utd and Chelsea a combined £44 million between them the Argentine midfielder was one of the most expensive underachievers in Premier League history. There was no doubting the talents of Veron and his spell in Italy showed what a fine midfielder he was. It’s a shame he couldn’t display the same form in England and despite a few top quality displays he never fully got to grips with the pace of the top flight.
