Despite being a fan favourite at Spurs and putting in some top draw performances down the wing Anderton never really hit the heights expected of him. A host of injuries and inability to recapture the form shown in his youth and led to the unenviable ‘sick note’ tag being placed firmly on his shoulders. Sir Alex Ferguson even pulled out on a move to bring him to Manchester United because of his penchant for long spells on the treatment table.
