England’s fourth-highest goal scorer was signed by Sir Alex Ferguson two summers ago and was awarded the famous Number 7 shirt vacated by Cristiano Ronaldo. Despite struggling with various injuries he has gone on to make 47 appearances for United, albeit mostly from the bench. His contract at Old Trafford expires this summer and there will clearly be clubs willing to take a gamble on his signature. Whilst unlikely that a club of Manchester United’s stature will come calling, his 32nd birthday is at the end of the year Owen must look to be playing regularly at the top level before it is too late.
