A surprise package does not always have to be good and in the case of Sunderland it certainly isn’t. Sunderland have only won two games from 13 and sit just two points above the relegation zone. Steve Bruce has been sacked after the shocking start to the season, which has included defeats to Norwich, Bolton and arch rivals Newcastle United. After some expensive transfer dealings and a large number of players coming in during the summer, Bruce could have no excuses about the poor form and the new manager will need a lot of improvement.
