Ibrahima Konate is set to join Real Madrid on a free transfer when his Liverpool contract expires, and the reported salary he will earn in Spain has been leaked.
Liverpool were in negotiations with Konate for over a year, but were never able to reach an agreement with the French star. Consequently, the Reds made a judgment call to allow him to leave for free instead of agreeing to his wage demands.
Speculation and rumours have been rife about what the amount Konate and his agent were demanding could be, with some claims suggesting he wanted to earn £350,000 per week, a figure that would have made him the third-highest earner at the club.
For reference, it took Mohamed Salah several years to break the FSG wage structure, winning multiple titles in the process to earn that right. The same goes for Virgil.
Konate is a good player, but he’s not worth anywhere near £300,000 per week, much less £350,000/week.

According to Spanish news outlet El Desmarque, Real Madrid are set to pay Konate a mind-boggling amount of money to join as a free agent.
The numbers involved are genuinely insane.
Konate was earning a reported £150,000 per week at Liverpool but wanted to double his money to around £300,000 per week, which FSG have obviously denied him.
The contract Konate is set to sign will expire in 2030, and will be worth €96 million gross. This equates to:
- Weekly wage: €460k/week (£400k)
- Monthly salary: €2m/month (£1.7m)
- Annual salary: €24m per annum (£20.7m)
As a free agent, he will also reportedly pocket £18 MILLION as a signing bonus…
Liverpool and FSG are trying to get contracts under control
Salah and van Dijk’s major contract renewals were well-deserved, but the contracts offered to Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch have upset the apple cart, so to speak.
Gakpo now earns a weekly base of £250,000 before bonuses, while Gravenberch is now on around £270,000 per week before bonuses.
Konate, who was admittedly instrumental to Liverpool winning the Premier League before his decline in the last year, obviously felt he was worth more than the pair, but it seems as though Liverpool are trying to rein in the wage bill.
