Liverpool now have a wealth of attacking options after their summer spending spree but it’s restricting the opportunities of one of Arne Slot’s exciting forwards.
While things aren’t exactly clicking for Liverpool, there is no denying that they have the most impressive array of attacking talent in the Premier League.
Mohamed Salah, Hugo Ekitike, Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Cody Gakpo is a truly stunning set of players to choose from.
At the moment, with five goals and an assist, Ekitike is the player with the best numbers this season.
While Arne Slot needs to get his star forwards going, he might be worried after 19-year-old Jayden Danns has been told he will never break through at Anfield given the talent ahead of him in the pecking order.
Labelled by Liverpool U21s head coach Rob Page as “the next England No.9 in years to come,” but is his pathway blocked at Anfield?
Jayden Danns told he has “no chance” of making it at Liverpool after summing splurge
Liverpool spent £466million in the summer on new signings and for someone like Danns, it means his pathway to the first team is obstructed, unlike Rio Ngumoha.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Ally McCoist has argued that there is little to no chance that Danns has a realistic way of becoming a Liverpool regular with the Reds’ current depth at center-forward.
McCoist explained: “(At Liverpool) No chance. If he moves, he has got a chance. I take Rob’s point, and I don’t mean to shoot him down in flames, and I’m not shooting him down in flames because you’re obviously a really talented kid. Absolutely.
“That has impressed Rob Page, and Rob’s maybe thinking longer term, right? There ain’t no way that kid’s breaking in and playing regularly in Liverpool’s first team, really.
“Unless something remarkable happens. You never say never, but as I said, we saw the other lad (Rio Ngumoha) come in and scored important goals against Newcastle, and he looks the real deal. But even he will not play on a regular basis.
“Jayden Danns, who Rob obviously really thinks he is going places if he is going to be next England No. 9 in the immediate future, he won’t be doing it at Liverpool.”
The 19-year-old is on a long-term contract with Liverpool with an unspecified expiry date but after last signing a deal with the club in February 2025, there does not seem to be any long-term issues in Danns’ relationship with the Reds.
Not much has changed between now and last season when he was competing with Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez for a starting role. Danns will be well aware of how good needs to be to become the starting No.9 for Liverpool.
By all, accounts, hower, Danns is going to be a top player.
