Joe Cole

The supposed saviour of English football Cole was endorsed as the best young player in the world when he made the breakthrough at West Ham in 1998. His early performances were good but not at the level many thought they should be. The Hammers were relegated in 2003 and Cole moved across town to Chelsea with the chance to mix it with the European cream. Sadly for Cole he failed go hold down a regular place in his seven years at Stamford Bridge and was released in 2010. A move to Liverpool followed but a severe lack of form and fitness caused many to label him as finished. Shunted out to Lille on loan for the rest of this season it seems like it’s all over for Cole at 29.
