While Liverpool may not be moving at the breakneck speed many of us would prefer with regard to new signings, it’s good to be grateful for what we already do have.
With that in mind, it’s time to take a look at new Liverpool signing Victor Munoz, who is perhaps not subject to the excitement his arrival warrants.
Andoni Iraola has confirmed that the Spanish signing will arrive next week after taking a break after becoming a world champion with Spain at the World Cup this summer.
Although he didn’t play at the tournament, it will have been an amazing experience for a young player on the verge of joining one of the biggest clubs in the world in Liverpool.
Speaking to Liverpool’s official website, Iraola confirmed that Munoz will join the squad next week.
“He comes next week,” Iraola said.
“We spoke to him and he wanted also to come a little bit earlier than the three weeks that they have the right to have, because obviously he is coming to a new club, he will need some time to adapt, to meet his teammates. We will have him next week as soon as we arrive there, basically. It’s also good news.”
A closer look at what you can expect from Munoz at Liverpool
When Fabrizio Romano first broke the news that Munoz had been signed by Liverpool in the dead of night on 18 June, it came as a massive shock to supporters.
Newcastle United fans, in particular, were surprised as it was their transfer that Liverpool hijacked. Liverpool agreed a rapid-fire deal with Osasuna worth £34.6m, agreeing to pay his €40m release clause where Newcastle had been haggling over add-ons.

I wrote a thread introducing fans to Munoz the following day, but now with more fans familiar with the Spaniard, it’s exciting to imagine how Iraola will use him.
Blessed with an overabundance of pace, he will be more than useful in transition, but his versatility is what Iraola will love the most. The 23-year-old is capable of playing on either flank, as a striker or even as a false nine.
However, he is best used in exploiting space behind opposition defences or from the bench against tired legs.
Given how Iraola likes to set up, it will be no surprise to see him overperform on his seven goals and five assists for Osasuna last season.
One of the most pleasing things to me is that he is apparently a really good person. I’ve spoken to a handful of Osasuna fans about him and all of them left glowing reviews, expressing a sadness to see someone that one fan called a ‘true gentleman.’
He seems perfect for Liverpool with plenty of room to grow as a person and player.
